Order of Cleanses

In the process of detoxing the body one should cleanse in this order…

  1. Colon Cleanses  C.A.D. or M.D.C. or similar colon cleanse.
  2. Kidney Cleanses 
  3. Parasite Cleanses
  4. Liver Cleanses              
  5. Blood Cleanses

This will ensure that detoxing one organ system will not overburden the others. The Candida Albicans Detox (C.A.D.) or Mucoid Dissolve Cleanse (M.D.C.) or a similar colon cleanse will clear the gastrointestinal tract. This will allow the elimination of toxins and waste through the cleansed systems when undertaking the subsequent cleanses, ie Kidney Detox, Liver Detox and finally the blood detox. The Kidney, Liver and Blood Cleanses are relatively short detoxes that are often  just a “fast” one day a week that can be built up to an extended three-day period.

These fasts or cleanses should be taken in the proper order when the body has adjusted to the probable ongoing C.A.D. or M.D.C. cleanse. Fasts and cleanses may lead to the body releasing built up toxins and result in a die off or herxheimer reaction. This is why the detox order should be followed. The body’s systems should be cleared in a progressive order to ensure that it can eliminate these released toxins. Fasts and cleanses should become a part of one’s routine taken fairly often. Once a week or bi-weekly rotated out through the schedule of cleanses and detoxes mentioned above.

Kidney Health

The Kidneys are important in the role of good health. Kidney function is crucial in maintaining balance in the whole body. They are involved in the filtration of the blood. They are responsible for the filtration of mercury, copper, DDT and arsenic-bound chemicals from the bloodstream. Every day, a person’s kidneys process about 200 quarts of blood to sift out about 2 quarts of waste products and extra water. The wastes and extra water become urine, which flows to the bladder through tubes called ureters. The bladder stores urine until releasing it through urination.

Foods That Promote Kidney Health

These foods are alkalizing foods that promote proper kidney function. Try adding them to one’s daily diet.

  • Watermelon
  • Lemon Juice
  • Cranberries
  • Blueberries
  • Apples
  • Cherries
  • Red Grapes
  • Olive Oil
  • Pumpkin Seeds

Kidney Infections

The kidneys are very sensitive to infections and of course perform their function better when they are in proper health. Diet has a large influence on kidney health. In addition to a mostly raw food diet of organic non-gmo fruits and vegetables, nuts, grains and seeds and free-range, grass-fed meats there are certain foods that should be avoided. These foods may cause ill-health in the kidneys and in the body’s other organs. These foods include but are not limited to:

Acid Forming Foods

  • Salty Foods
  • Sugary Foods
  • Fried Foods
  • Mucous Forming Foods Including dairy, heavy grains, starches and fats.
  • Caffeine Containing Drinks
  • Alcohol
  • Excessive Protein More than 20% of one’s daily intake of food.

These acid forming foods can stress the kidneys. This applies to excessive protein and sugary foods too because the insulin released after consuming them increases the levels of calcium in the blood. Avoiding Kidney stones may be as simple as restricting the intake of  these foods. They also contribute to inflammation. When the kidneys are stressed they may develop kidney stones, cysts or other degenerative problems. These problems may lead to illness and disease such as urinary tract infections, diabetes or even kidney failure. Kidney issues cause water retention and the body absorbs toxins that are not eliminated. This often causes a chain reaction of ill-health in other organs and tissues in the body.

Symptoms of Kidney Disease

  • frequent urination
  • loss of energy
  • lose of appetite or increase in nausea
  • swollen extremities (hands or feet)
  • neuralgia (numbness or tingling)
  • poor concentration
  • darkening of skin
  • muscle cramps

Warning: If one is experiencing the above listed symptoms of poor kidney health, a licensed physician should be consulted immediately. It is not the intent of this post to diagnose or treat kidney disease.The intent of this post is educate and provide information about healthy kidney function and the benefits of regular kidney cleanses. These cleanse are not recommended for diuretics. Consult a physician before attempting any detox or nutritional programs.

Proper Hydration

The key to clean kidneys is drinking enough water, juices, and herbal teas along with a proper diet. The kidneys are actually self cleansing if you consume adequate fluids, which can take the form of foods such as fruits and vegetables as well as water and other liquids. For the kidney to be healthy, infections must be cleared and any stones dissolved. A kidney cleanse should assist the body in eliminating metabolic wastes, toxins and dissolve deposits (kidney stones). It also aids in replacing damaged cells with new healthy tissues. Water should be filtered or distilled before drinking. A good measure of proper hydration is about 1/2 ounce of fluid per pound of one’s weight.

Kidney Fast

These fasts assist the kidneys in gently flushing toxins and other waste out of the system. As in all light juice fasts it is a great benefit to ease into the fast as well as easing out of it. A fast should be preceded by a light meal of fruits or vegetables the night before and the first meal after too. A weekly juice fast can be a one day affair. I suggest alternating different fasts while targeting different organ systems. Be careful on extended fasts lasting more than three days. Be aware of the Herxheimer Reaction that may occur when toxins are being flushed from ones system. Also be aware that cleanses need to be performed in a certain order to prevent the flushed out toxins overwhelming another organ/system. These cleanses should be performed after the other cleanses have been successfully completed ( with the exception of the possibly ongoing C.A.D or M.D.C.).

Kidney Cleansing Juices

These healthy cleanses will help the kidneys flush toxins from the body. This first one uses parsley which greatly helps bind heavy metals then flushes them from the body. Use organic produce.

Spring Cleaning Juice

  • 4 Stalks Celery
  • 3 Sprigs Parsley
  • 1 Cucumber
  • Half a Lemon
  • 2 – 4 oz Filtered Water
  • pinch of cayenne pepper (optional)

Juice these together and drink.

Summer Harvest Juice

  • 2 Apples
  • 4-6 slices Watermelon
  • 2 – 4 oz of Filtered Water

 

Extended Kidney Cleanse

This should only be undertaken once all other fasts are complete. It should not be undertaken when kidney disease is present. A gradual build up to a longer fast is preferable to trying an extended fast the first or second time. Be aware of the body and be prepared to come off a planned fast if needed.

Day One

  1. Start this cleanse by doing a juice fast for a day of organic apple juice diluted with filtered water ( 1/2 & 1/2). Drink it throughout the day when hungry.
  2. Make the Parsley and Celery tea (see recipe below). During the day alternate drinking apple juice w/water and the P&C tea. Two cups of tea for every cup of juice.

After Day One

  1. Alternate drinking the apple juice drink and the parsley & celery tea. Light meals may be taken of the following food suggestions. This cleanse should last at least two days and up to a week.

Breakfast

Eat  a light breakfast each day during this cleansing.  Good options are fresh fruit, yogurt or an organic light breakfast cereal. Drink celery and parsley tea or the apple juice drink.

Lunch & Dinner

Eat raw alkalizing vegetables for lunch and dinner. A good vegetable dressing  for raw vegetable salads is cold pressed organic virgin olive oil with lemon juice and Bragg’s living enzymes. Alkalizing foods with fiber would be ideal. Nuts and seeds are an excellent protein source though baked fish or turkey would be good as well. Try to eat lightly during the cleanse. Drink the recommended tea and juice when feeling hungry.

To aid in detoxing I recommend the use of psyllium (a source of bulk fiber). When rising in the morning add 1 teaspoon of psyllium to the first apple juice drink of the day. Stir and drink quickly. Psyllium thickens and gels quickly. 1 teaspoon added to the last apple juice drink of the day is also recommended.

This cleanse can be done quarterly (every three months) and can be greatly aided by the one day juice fasts or Parsley & Celery Tea fasts taken weekly or bi-weekly.

Parsley & Celery Tea

Parsley detoxifies the kidney by flushing toxins out, and is beneficial in the treatment and prevention of kidney stones. Celery is also an excellent detoxing food. It has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant qualities, aids in urinary tract health and boosts white blood cells.

  • 1 cup organic parsley leaves (washed & cleaned)
  • 1 cup organic celery leaves (washed & cleaned)
  • 6 cups Filtered water.

Wash and clean the leaves. Add water to a non-aluminum pan. Heat the water to almost boiling then add leaves. Allow to simmer for 20 minute then turn off the heat. Let it sit for fifteen minutes, then strain the parsley and celery out and enjoy the tea. Used in the above listed cleanse but also can used during one day juice fasts.

Watermelon Cleanse

In this kidney cleanse one just simply fasts on watermelon, eating as much as possible while frequently urinating to allow the passing of kidney stones. This is an easy fast though some seem to take extreme measures while doing it. A pure watermelon fast lasting a day is a good duration. This fast is definitely not for those taking diuretics.

Herbs

Ginkgo Biloba This herb increases circulation to the kidneys and has antioxidant properties.

Goldenseal Also increase circulation to the kidneys and antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.

Apples are considered to be a healing herb for the kidney and serve as a purifier, cleanser, disinfectant, and toner.

Lemons Drink the juice of a fresh lemon in a glass of warm water every morning, both during and after a kidney cleanse. Lemons inhibit kidney stone formation because of their citric acid content.

Herxheimer Reaction

Warning: One may suffer a worsening of certain symptoms during the use of many treatments and especially during cleanses. This is a short-term detoxification reaction in the body. This reaction is known as the Herxhiemer Reaction. This is a natural response to toxins and pathogens that are released when parasites, fungi, viruses, bacteria and other pathogens  are being effectively killed off and the body does not effectively eliminate the toxins quickly enough.

Methods of Relieving Herxheimer Reactions

  • Drink plenty of filtered water.
  • Add vitamin C to regimen.
  • Add vitamin E to regimen.
  • Take more proteases (something like Purify, Repair, Peptizyde, Peptidase Complete, Vitalzym, ViraStop, Wobenzyme, etc. between meals…like 3-4 capsules every 3-4 hours)
  • Epsom salts baths help with calming and detox.
  • Plenty of rest and sleep.
  • Take Activated Charcoal which helps absorb toxins.

Alternative Cleanses

Take Hot Detox Baths to increase sweating. This utilizes the skin as an organ of detoxing. Toxins are excreted in sweating and this helps alleviate the kidneys of extra work.

Dry Brushing

Dry brushing before the bath will aid in lymph circulation and detoxification. It stimulates circulation and immune function. It also stimulates the hormone and oil glands while toning skin and muscle. It gentle exfoliates the skin.

  • Use a natural bristle brush.
  • Always brush towards the heart.
  • Brush before showers so as to wash off the impurities the brushing removes from the skin.
  • Use light pressure on sensitive areas. Use harder pressure on less sensitive areas.
  • Head to foot or foot to head is fine. Remember to brush towards your heart.

Follow the brushing with a shower or bath. Light body oils may be applied to skin. Be careful with this treatment if lesions or open wounds are present. Be sure to sanitize the brush with vinegar or enzymes after use.
